This is that story:
Sept. 2008,
I asked a co-worker to find a macaw for my daughter. Her birthday was coming up soon and she been wanting that kind of bird for a long time.
She went online and contacted this "person" from add she found.
"Remi Moore" remipetshome@gmail.com
After a few emails, she thought she found the right bird!
This "person" wanted her to "wire" the money.
"wire money"
The add lead her to think they were in the same city.
The "seller" emailed:
ok you can send the money by money Gram .But send the Names i will use
to pay the flight .i need your full names .
here are the informations you will use to pay the money .
NAME.................NGWA REMI.
COUNTRY................CAMEROON.
CITY.......................DOUALA.
ADDRESS....................22 STREET AKWA TOWN
>ZIP CODE............................00237.
TEST QUESTION ..........HOW ARE MY BABIES?
ANSWER....................HEALTHY..
Now she knew this was a SCAM! (Look at the name, Cameroon and Babies)
When she came to work the next day, she asked me to look at the emails.
I knew "right of the bat" this was a SCAM!
This "person" kept sending emails most of the day, try to get Lynn to send money.

it is 8:15 am now and i think you should be on your way to do the money gram because i have made everything ready and i will just check my mails at the airport .so when you send the money , you send the mtcn and the senders names .i will be waiting to hear from you soon or you just call my mobile phone +237 99912311 or 00237 99912311 .

At this point I told her to forget the bird, I find another gift for my daughter and do not reply to this "person's" email.
But the emails from "Remi" did not stop!
The next day this "person" was still waiting for the money.

i just realised we have a 6 hours time differnce with you there so when you sent the money , it was already 5:00pm here and i rush to the MoneyGram store and it was closed .it seem as if the money Gram stores here closes down early than you have there .so please , i am begging that you understand with me here .the money is still there and i will only take it at 9:00am my time that will be your 3:00am .so i will send the babies very early in the morning my time so that they will be there later in the evening .so please, i am begging that you understand this .everything will be handled as we programmed .please, when do you want the birds to arrive because i can promise you that they will be there tomorrow in the evening .
i will be waiting to hear back from you soon.if there is any other thing you can just call me on the mobile .

i am very sorry all these happened but i told you we have a time difference and when you sent the money , it was already 5:pm my time and the money gram here was closed and i could not get the money .why do you have to think this is a scam when i told you the truth about everything? why can't you just trust me.please, i really need a home for these babies that is why i was giving them to you for free and i did not ask you to pay for anything .please, one thing is certain here that i am not interested in your money but i want a very good home for the babies .so i will greatly appreciate if you can release the money this morning so that i just pay the flight and send you the flight ticket for your sister to pick up the birds at the Burbank airport.please, you can count on me .

That is point, she showed me this and I passed it around the office.
What a joke!
This guy is a work of art, Scam art!
Some of the other office works want to put up a web site called petscam.org to help warn people about SCAM like this one.
I told them that they would have to do it on their own time.
We know a lady at a near by business who has computer work stations and maybe she would help.
She was glad to help out, and soon petscam.org was online!
The ladies did a great job, showing how to spot Scams.
In less than a week, they were up and running.
People were sending email asking for help and the ladies ( who now take on the name "the little sisters") were spending their lunch times help others not to be taken in by these SCAMS.
They made one big mistake!
The owner of the business let the "sisters" have a PMB at that address to use as the address when they got the web site.
( The business has it own site and petscam.org show up as part of their business)
Here comes the icing on the cake!

A call comes into the station, from the business that there's an email from "Remi" that we might want to "check out".
have just seen your advert about petscam on Google and i am giving you 24 hours to wipe that off or else? I WILL SEND YOU AFRICAN ........!!!!! remember 24 hours.
Well, the sister had posted on their web site of what went down with "Remi"
(And yes the site was taken offline, that is why we are here now)
But this is the next email "Remi" sent!
this is your address you can't hide .i will kill you .
(address is not posted on this site but he knew what it was)
One of the officers went there and took the report and other officer, who knows the the boss there, called him to make a "follow up" report.
What a "code stupid"!
The address "Remi" put in the email was that of the business.
We are known to "hang out" and use the computers.
I, for one, go there if I cannot get in on a computer at that "station".
I know that Homeland does faxes, and notaries there.
Last Christmas, the we were selling trees in the parking lot.
You can't swing a dead cat for hitting someone with a badge in that place.
Hey, if you show your badge, it's 50% off any service!
What I am about to say is just me and me only.
I was hoping this guy would show up when I am there! I like to be the one who brings you down.
That night, some of us "dudes" asked the "sister" if they would like for us to join with them to put up another site.
We got together and here we are, ready to help you to not be taken in by the "SCAMS"!
After reading this, I hope more of you people will join us and help us in the effort to stop not just this kind of SCAMS, and any other kinds of SCAMS that are out there.
We want to help.
Give your children the "Know-How" and the tools so they will have a safer summer. Don't wait until it is too late!
